DIY Gift For Father’s Day FROM Kids

This DIY gift for Father’s Day, FROM kids, will have you ready in a snap!

With just a little help, your children can make this personalized pillow case in less then a hour.

Why Do I Love This DIY Project?

I love this DIY gift for Father’s Day because…

  • It can be given to and appreciated by many family members (not just daddy)
  • It’s a practical gift that can be used regularly by anybody
  • It has sentimental value
  • It can be made by kids of all ages
  • It’s a gift that can be made for a very reasonable price
  • It can be appreciated by minimalist family’s
  • And also by relatives who travel or are currently far away
  • It can be appreciated and used by those who don’t need anything
  • It can be shipped super easy if need be!

To make this personalized pillow case cover…

You Will Need

  • 1 white or light colored pillow case
  • One pack of permanent fabric markers
  • 1 pillow (optional)

Directions

1. Lay down some type of protector like cardboard. The best way to do this would be to place your protectant inside of the pillow case to prevent the ink from leaking to the other side of case, whilst protecting your table also. I skipped this step and I did have this problem.

Note- If you will fit cardboard snug enough, it can double as step #2

2. (Optional) Next, you want to stabilize your pillow case in some way to keep the fabric from slipping while writing. This can be done in many ways . Here are a few ideas.

  • Secure case inside of a sewing loom
  • Tape sides down to counter (be carful if you have a wooden table!)
  • hold fabric down on each side while your kids color 😂 (this was my choice, I don’t recommend it lol)
  • Fit the cardboard used for step one inside your pillow case snugly (recommended!).

3.Now that your pillow case is secure, you are ready to make your DIY gift for daddy ! Grab your fabric marks (make sure they are permanent) and outline some “bubble” letters into a adorable grandparent approved phrase, you could use stencils in this step if you would like . If your kids are older, they can do this Part on their own or they could write a loving note along with there own designs or drawing instead.

Now For The Fun!

4.Grab the kiddos and get to coloring! This personalization is what makes this gift for Daddy so special. I had my children (ages 2&4) color one side each, then I signed there names to the corresponding sides.

5. Be sure to read the back of your fabric markers and follow the instructions to “set ink” and now you are all set!

I just love how these turned out! The pictures really don’t do them justice.

Do you need some more DIY grandparent gift ideas ?

“A Heavenly Father”PLUS-Last Minute Fathers Day Gift ideas!!

I remember my dad sitting by my side on my bed, trying to talk me through the problems. But in reality, he just couldn’t this time. The problem had became a heart issue, and only the ultimate Doctor could fix it. After much talk, my dad stood to his feet with tears in his eyes and said “ Erica, I may not be able to fix your problem but I know who can, and i’ll be praying for you”. As he closed the door, I sobbed. I had just been faced with the realization of one of the hardest things in my life. That MY DAD did not have all the answers, and he would not always be there to fix my problems.

As hard as this was to accept, it was one of the greatest lessons I learned. For through this trial, I realized something even greater, that no matter what, as a child of God, I have a Heavenly Father I can run to, no matter the circumstance. He is a Father who can supply all my needs, who has no deaf ear.

Today I thank God for a earthly Father who pointed me to Him and taught me one of the greatest lessons I will ever learn at a young age.

No matter your situation this Father’s Day, remember there is a Heavenly Father who can be there when no one else can.

If you don’t know Him personally, today would be a great day to begin that relationship. You have only to ask and believe.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9 KJV

Let’s remember to take a moment this week and recognize the fathers and the fatherly influences of our lives.

1.FOOD

Bake your Dad’s favorite dinner or dessert! Men, (most men in my life) LOVE food! My Father-in-law’s face lights up every time I make his favorite dessert, banana pudding! Feeling adventurous and want to try a new dessert? Check out my sugar cookies, strawberries on a cloud or chocolate gravy recipe linked at end of post. ❤️

2.Kids Creativity

Use your kids creativity to elaborate tons of traditional items. Grab a sharpie or some finger paint and let your kids doodle away. You can also help them out with some cute quotes found online or dated handprints for a treasured time capsule. Great items to “decorate” would be

t-shirts, ball caps, work gloves, socks, cofee mug, hammer handle, etc.

Here are one of my favorite gifts in this category I made from, icanteachmychild.com. Soo cute!

3.Creativity Elaborated

For a little more elaborate version of creativity you can copy quotes or drawings to items with cricut vynal, wood burner, or etching cream. I used this idea here from gluesticksblog.com , I just exchanged the marker for wood burning.

4.Favorite Candies Or Snacks

No time to cook? Gather your father’s favorite candies or snacks and find a unique way to gift them. Google has TONS of ideas! Here is a favorite diy I gifted a few years ago to my dad from repeatcrafterme.com , he loves Reese’s and enjoyed reading the little notes with each one. Super cheap but thoughtful & quick gift!

5.Subscriptions

Do you need something worth a little more value but still quick for this last minute purchase!

How about a online subscription? Last year, we purchased a 6 month Harry’s razor subscription for my Father-in-law. He already used and loved Harry’s razors so this was a pretty easy but appreciated choice.https://www.harrys.com/en/us/signup

Another idea I have yet to gift, would be a subscription to Scribid. I recently opened a subscription to the online book club scribid. It includes TONS of audio books, readable E-books along with magazines and PDF files all open for unlimited reading every month for just $9.99! And they are currently offering 1mo free trial!

Check it out here!

Other subscription ideas would be –

Give your Dad a excuse to shop the place he lives w/out the extra expense this year.

So this gift is not for everyone but maybe your dad has been trying several Weight loss programs, looking for the one he loves, this may be that one! Let him try it for free, even better with you .

3. Apple Music (for iPhone users)Tons of free music all for a small price per mo! They usually offer free trials too! (PS) if you already have Apple Music you may be able to “add” a subscription for even cheaper.
