August life update

So here’s a little life update for August !

Next week we will start out 7th kids crusade for this year. I am so excited to tell you that we have had several children pray to be saved and even one parent accept Christ as their Savior during 2022 kids crusades !

We have had a lot of fun hosting these  crusades. There’s a special blessing that comes with working hand in hand with so many of God’s people and really getting to know them in a better way. Anyone who has done kids crusades, VBS, or any type of children’s ministry realize how much work is done behind the scene but these same people understand that even one child accepting Christ is worth it all and that’s why we do this. It always strengthens me at the end of a exhausting night of games, skits, stories, songs, and sermon, to see a child weeping in the alters experiencing God for himself.

I thought I’d add a few pics of our crusades in this month’s life update, check them out here!

Sister Jenny from our church did a wonderful job building the sail with the help of her husband. It is made of PVC pipe and old bed sheets. It can be lowered or raised to different heights and tears down so small that it will fit into a garbage bag!  It has been a huge blessing and the main vocal point of our set up this year.

The biggest challenge of making crusade props this year was making them to where they could condense enough to travel. This has taken some organization, consideration, and even some elimination lol. But so far so good!

My boat is made from dollar tree foam boards duck taped together and covered with a vinyl fabric photo backdrop from Amazon. It can be folded and is very light… almost too light when Skitsters get a little carried away 😂. This has held up incredibly well and I plan to keep this prop making technique close by in the future.

The Bible skits are one of our favorite parts of the night. We like to take a well known bible story and narrate it while the Skitsters act it out. It’s so fun because they really don’t know the details of how the narrator will tell the story… let’s just say, we don’t always abide by traditional story telling rules… 😂.

A-mist these kids crusades we have been in several wonderful church services and met many new people. We have also traveled a LOT of miles, particularly during the past six weeks. We did a quick add up and found that we had traveled approximately 3,000 miles in the past 6 weeks! The last two day trip we made coming back to KY consisted of over 900 of these travel miles 🤪. Let’s just say, We have been faithfully using our travel boredom busters and could probably even add a few lol. We have also listened to our 20+ audio dramas for kids plenty, and dug through our emergency car bag one time too many 😂. These three things have been life savers these past 6weeks!

One thing we majorly lacked and have been working towards is healthier snack options. My kids are extremely picky when it comes to “healthy food” and what I mean by healthy is anything that’s not chips or candy 😂 I’m seriously not too  picky.

Healthy snack idea!

One thing we did find was these snack pouches. I guess I always assumed these were for baby food only until a restaurant served our kids meals with pouch type apple sauce… my brain was turning … no way was I purchasing those expensive disposable apple sauces I had seen in the stores on a regular basis. So I did a quick Google search.. sure enough, as usual, someone had already came up with the genius idea of a reusable food pouch that could be filled, used, and cleaned easily. It wasn’t long before I had a Amazon order in. ❤️

Now.. my kids like apple sauce but after awhile, it can get old so I knew I had to get creative. As a child, my Mom would purchase the little cups of strawberry apple sauce. I still remember how it tasted, I absolutely LOVED it!  I checked the stores and sure enough they carried it but… once again,  I wasn’t about to pay for those individually cups. Back to Google I was, the only thing I could find was fruit flavored /added apple sauces. These sound great and are probably the best healthy option but for us, they were not. First of all, my kids would gag if they found even one piece of fruit skin in their apple sauce, secondly it would be a little more pricey then I was looking for and I wasn’t convinced about the shelf life.

My light bulb moment!

With my brain still turning I had a light bulb moment!   Sugar FREE Jell-o ! Yes, you heard me right. I played with the ratio a few times and found the perfect mixture to share with you all! By adding a tiny bit of sugar free jello powder, you can have several of flavors of unsweetened apple sauce that your kids will love!  We can’t hardly get past the strawberry although my son also loved the lime flavor. I think we will be trying blueberry next 😊.

I filled our reusable Amazon food pouches with this yummy strawberry apple sauce for our last trip and the kids were so excited! (I even packed me one 😉)

I do recommend running water through the pouches before tossing them into the dirty sink for quicker cleaning later. You will need a bottle brush of some time for easy washing.

This apple sauce is so yummy and fun!

It’s colorful , flavorful, super fast to make, and SO cheap! For less than .50 cent I am able to flavor a entire 2lb 14oz tub of unsweetened apple sauce. Did I mention that It also stores very well? If you’re ready to try our new apple sauce trick, you can have my recipe free under my members only page. June Newsletter update on my full-time RV life

Eating on our Full-time RV life in Texas!

You know what they say… everything is bigger in Texas! I don’t know about ‘everything’ but I do believe their range of food types may be a little bigger than average.

When we went to AL/ GA last year, we noticed a huge difference in their style of cooking. We also noticed that they didn’t eat a lot of our regular Kentucky food ‘staples’ such as, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, etc. Instead, these items were exchanged for beans of every kind and cabbage, lots of cabbage . Although these recipes were great and I even saved a few for myself, I’ll hafta admit, I did miss some of our own traditional eats from back home .

In Texas they also had a different style of cooking, but I did note much our own Kentucky staples intertwined.

The one thing here in Texas that would have to be the farthest from Kentucky eating, would have to be there “craw dad’s” or as they say, “craw-fish”. 😬 I’m sorry, I just “couldn’t” lol. My husband, on the other hand, did try them and actually loved them! He said it reminded him of shrimp 🤷‍♀️. I personally just can’t get past those eyes looking at me 😂. We told our Texas friends that we call those “fish bait” in Kentucky lol. Needless to say, everything else I tried in Texas was wonderful. It really is amazing how different areas within the United States eat so differently.

Another wonderful dessert we tried in Texas was a Oreo dump cake. Sooo good!!! I just love Oreo’s as it is. I wasn’t able to get the recipe on paper but the lady told me how she made it so I took it upon myself to do a quick Google search and found this link here that is just like the one she made. ❤️

What else?

I, myself, have been working on some minor details of homemaking within the walls of our full-time RV life. You know, those little touches that make your house feel like a comfy, personalized “home”. I recently used peel and stick laminate rolls to make these adorable “permanent” placemats that double as scratch protectors on our kitchen table. When I say permanent, I mean my kids can’t scoot them around… they are indeed “removable”. They are also very price efficient! I would just check and pre-test the brand you use on your wood to make sure it doesn’t remove any varnish. If you are interested in other ways I have been using peel and stick laminate, keep watching for my upcoming post with more on that.

Full-time RV life & dieting

Some of you may remember when I tried the military diet last year. I loved the results of this diet but it just didn’t fit regularly into our traveling life style too well.

After realizing this, I went back to my “what diet works best” concept and began trying to find a diet that fit my current circumstances.

With the KETO rage going on, my interest of the affects of carbs to the body was peaked. We all know sugar is bad for you but I wanted to know why. I personally was not interested in following a ‘Keto’ lifestyle, I wanted a more long term option and something that I could stick to within our full-time Rv life. Plus, I knew I would never stay in “ketosis” with my cheating habit lol.

I began my research with this book titled “the 100” by Jorge Cruise, which I found free on my Scribd subscription. (Ps if you are an e-book lover or audio book lover, you have got to check out Scribd! For as of date, for just $9.99 a month, you can have unlimited access to thousands and thousands of e-books, audio books, magazines, and more. Check out the link below for a free 14 day trial. Back to the books, Cruise goes into a entire history lesson at the beginning of his book. He begins with sugar entering the US and elaborates on the Lack of research it had, what current studies show, why we don’t hear about the bad effects, the false impressions Americans have on low carb living, the benefits, and more! The first part of this book was really eye opening to me, and although I have not chosen to follow his diet plan, it made me wish I could grow a farm or something ,😜 but since that ain’t happening, I have chosen the next best thing. That is a LOW carb (not keto) lifestyle.

What is low carb and have I noticed any difference?

Many people define low carb in many different ways, I have chosen to follow a 50 or less carb diet along with calorie moderation and mostly unprocessed foods.

Not only have I shed a few pounds, I am eating a diet that fits into my full-time RV life and I have experienced at least 3 surprisingly benefits, which you will hear about in the near future when I elaborate on this topic! Be sure to subscribe to my blog to stay up to date !

Full-time Rv life with kids

The kids are doing great 😌. Seems like we are well past the bout of sickness mentioned in last months newsletter . We just finished up pre-school and have ordered our kindergarten homeschool books. Interested in why we homeschool? Surprising, it’s not just because of our full-time RV life, check it out in my link here/below .

The kids got to try a new game which I thought would be great for any mom to implement into a children’s event. They got to play “glow in the dark” ball. How fun is that? The church had set up their gym for glow in the dark basket ball & volley ball for their last youth event. They used black lights and white tape to line the walls, nets, balls, and boundaries. This really got my mind to turnings…. I’m thinking of an outside, glow in the dark, children’s birthday party ❤️🤔.

April Newsletter Update & Our Full-Time RV Life!

Ready for a update on our Full-Time RV life?Let’s get rolling! (pun intended 😜)

Full timing in our ‘recently moved in RV’ has been such a blessing! I love my washer & dryer, the leveling system works great for what we are using it for, the colors match my style of decor perfectly, and the kids loft is amazing…. until they got a stomach bug, at least🤦‍♀️.

Full time RV life & Sickness

Tiny lofts with a puking 4&2 year old, does not combine well! Thankfully, I was able to drag their “waterproof” toddler mattresses down to the living room to ride out the rest of the bug. I did learn something new through this round of sickness though.. and that is…

I love elderberry syrup!!

Seriously ladies! Have you ever? And I mean EVER, tried this stuff?! ❤️❤️❤️

I had some tucked away, planning to add it to our immune boosting goals (but never had) when I began wondering if it would help with symptoms ‘after’ sickness had hit. I did a couple quick Google searches and found that yes, indeed it does! Matter of fact, with the correct dosage, elderberry syrup has been known (and even proven) to be a nausea reducer AND shorten the effects of the flue, stomach bugs, and colds.

Unfortunately, I didn’t discover this until after my son had born the brute of the sickness, it seemed like it helped him on his last day but I wasn’t sure if it was the syrup or if he was just feeling better🤔.

Then Jael was hit. As soon as she became sic I began giving her the syrup and wouldn’t you know, she only puked when the syrups time ran up (every 4 hours like clockwork) I soon realized if I made sure to keep the syrup in her, in a timely manner, she didn’t puke at all! Before I realized this, I skipped a does in the night and we fought a battle of 3pukes in 1.5hr timeframe which was exactly what my son had done though out the first part of the sickness. Once I gave her some syrup, off she went to sleep until her next dose and we was able to ride the worse of the sickness with much more ease.

I know your dien to know…

Did it shorten the sickness as well?

I cannot guarantee it did but I like think so. My son, who unfortunately only used the syrup at the very end, was sic with this horrible bug, on and off, for 6 entire days. My little girl was given the syrup right off and she was over the exact same bug and symptoms in less than 24hrs.

Considering the positive (and very noticeable) effects the elderberry syrup had on my child’s nausea, I can’t help but wonder if it helped with shortening the sickness also. It definitely didn’t hurt!

I can’t wait to see the immune building effects this natural elderberry syrup (also linked below) has on my family in the future! Has anyone reading used elderberry syrup or other natural stomach bug remedies? Please share in the comments below if you do. ❤️

Also, if you are interested in how I stay prepared for sickness or any other “child emergencies” on the go, check out “whats in my car bag” post below, it has been a LIFE SAVER so many times during every day child “emergencies”!

What else has been going on in our full-time RV life

During the month of April, we spent a most of our full-time RV living in Texas and Arkansas. We attended a total of 9 new churches and met a lot of wonderful new people. These 2 states are “new stomping grounds” for us.

Never Judge a book by its cover

My 4 year old (Judah) absolutely loves going to “new states”. The first church we went to in AR had a super nice play are. Judah began to tell everyone how much he loved Arkansas because “they have a playground” the only problem was, the next church in Arkansas did NOT have a playground 😂, it quickly reminded me not to judge things by first impressions.

Is Full-Time RV life “Always A Vacation?” & do you have family days?

Some may differ in their opinion on this topic depending on their situation, but for our lives, the short answer is, no. We live this life style due to a calling from God, not as a retirement or long life goal of adventures. That does not mean we don’t have a good time though, I am a firm believer that the “Will Of God Is The Happiest Place To Be”!

“The will of God

is the happiest place to be”

On the other hand, we do enjoy the benefits of seeing new places, meeting new people, and having many experiences. But the fact is, our goal in this life is to minister to others. With that said, much of our time is spent going to church of the evenings and traveling. Outside of travel days, my husband does a lot of preparing for sermons of the days, me and the kids do regular things like pre schooling, laundry, playing, cooking, and so on.

Family Day’s with Full-time RV life

Because we do NOT live everyday on vacation, we indeed DO take family days! Family days are a vital part of our sanity of living in a small space lol. We do have some exciting opportunities for family days due to the fact that we travel. Many times, our family days consist of something free like visiting this large Bass Pro we hadn’t been to before last week. Occasionally, we set aside some money to enjoy something more expensive like a local aquarium but this is not on a regular basis. One thing I love is how we can use these special family days as homeschool field trips or vise versa. If you are interested in Why I Homeschool or Homeschool tips checkout these post, also linked below.

Bass Pro Shop

A former ‘full-time RV life’ wife & mother gave me a treasured piece of advice this month. She began to expound on how busy our lives can get and “if we are not intentional with our relationships they will indeed fall between the cracks”.

Family days and date nights are two of those “relationship building” activities that me and my husband have to work on to keep alive, amid our hectic schedule. I have found that the revived spirit and strength we receive from enjoying each other’s company in these relaxing times is always worth the effort. If your family days or date nights are being strangled by business, finances, or whatever else, I challenge you today to BE INTENTIONAL WITH THOSE Relationships Check out my post on budget friendly date night ideas also linked below. I’m hoping to have a list of budget friendly family nights soon too!

Testimony

I was blessed to witness several special moments in the services we have recently been in. I watched a a teen age girl weep as she walked to the alter and a young Mother give her heart to the Lord, but one of the greatest blessings I seen this past month would have to a little 9 year old girl who felt the touch of God for the first time. The Lord was moving mightily through the altar service and this little girl began to weep as she felt the touch of God for herself. Her Mother had recently wondered and worried over why her child hadn’t responded to God’s spirit yet, little did she know, her moment was just around the corner.

Witnessing a child feel the Lord or a sinner be saved, always brings me back to the reason we are here, for HIM.

Having a 4year old myself, I felt extra sensitive to this child’s experience. I can’t wait until the day my little boy feels God’s presence settle on his soul. I’m sure it will be soon and I want to do everything in my power now, to train and nurture his little heart for that day.

Updates Announcements

As far as my blog, I want to thank each of you that read, I really appreciate the support! I do have a exciting announcement hopefully coming soon… so keep watching your email!!

What’s next?

We are currently in full blown, kids crusade planning! Next month, we will be heading home for a couple weeks, where we will be hosting our first kids crusade of the summer.

Our kids crusade theme this year is “Sailing Life’s Sea With Christ” . Looks like we will be “sailing” through the states of KY, OH, GA, SC, and maybe even FL this summer, AHOY!

More About My Families Exciting, Full-Time RV Life

full time RV life

Today, I thought I’d get on a little more personal level and take you a step farther into my family’s full-time RV life. For those of you that already know the jest of this topic, keep reading for a update on our full time RV living.

If you have read any of my past posts, you probably already know that me, my husband, and two small children live a full time RV life. But, you may have wondered a few things like… why we made this decision, how much we travel, what neat places we have been, what this year’s plans are, and so on. I may not be able to answer all of your questions about our full time RV life but this post should be a start!

Why do we live a full-time RV life?

Whether it be work or leisure, most but not all, live a full-time RV life by choice. Our decision, though ultimately by choice, was guided by a calling from God into the ministry. We made the choice to answer this call going on 2 years ago. We are now traveling the country wherever the Lord opens doors. My husband is what is called a full-time evangelist.

What does our day to day full-time RV life consist of?

My personal day time consist of a lot of the normal stay at home mom activities and responsibilities. Our blessing of a camper, to take with us as we go, provides us with a ‘home’ atmosphere of which I spend time tending to while caring for my family. Cooking, cleaning, meal planning, homeschool, and laundry often fill the early part of my day. If you are interested in how I control laundry overflows in a pinch or how I clean out and keep a small wardrobe, click on these linked post here or below.😊

My husband, on the other hand, spends a lot of his day time praying, studying, and preparing for the ministry. He also tends to things around the camper such as RV and truck maintenance and so forth.

Many of our evenings consist of the ministry, in which we attend many different churches, ministering to the people in sermon and songs.

What’s the biggest difference in our RV life and former “9-5” life?

For the first 7 years of our married life, me and my husband lived the ideal Mon-Fri work schedule. I was a stay at home mom with just a handful of housekeeping side jobs outside of the home, and we had every 3 day weekend off together. We had a perfect schedule and didn’t need to have much flexibility.

The biggest change between then and our current life style is definitely the flexibility issue. Full-time RV life, along with the ministry, takes a LOT of flexibility. You learn to go with the flow and not stress when things don’t go as planned. After living and learning this lesson for the past 1.5 years, I can see how this mindset can benefit anyone in any type of lifestyle. Let’s be real, even in the perfect scheduled life that we all love, things still go awry from time to time. Learning to make the best of it, no matter what, is a great benefit and blessing to the whole family.

Do we still have family days and dates even though we are always together?

Yes! Especially because we are together, living full-time in an RV can sometimes feel like the walls are closing in. This doesn’t mean you don’t love each other or that you are a bad family. You sometimes just need a break and the easiest way to do that is to plan a family day outside of those 4 walls.

The fact is, it’s easy to forget about family time or dates when you are always together. Some people relate “RV life” to a “full time vacation” and although we all admit to the flexibility and excitement traveling can bring, we still need a break from the monotony of our everyday responsibilities. That’s where family days and dates come in. No, my kids don’t get super excited over a long road trip anymore because that’s part of their life, I can just imagine convincing my four year old that his camper life was just a big camping trip 😂 but, if I tell him we are going to a local park for a picnic or to a local aquarium, he would go through the roof with excitement because it simply breaks up the monotony of our everyday life.

The same goes for dates, me and my husband don’t have a traveling baby sitter so we have to get creative. Date night may be staying up late after the kids go to sleep and playing a game of chess, or it might be a late car ride for ice cream. It takes a little more effort but dates are vital when you are cramped in a camper for months at a time, you need that time to just clock out and enjoy each other’s company.❤️Click here or below for date ideas after the kids go to bed!

Things I’ve learned living a full-time RV life

  • Be flexible
  • You don’t need near as much things as you think
  • Too much stuff piles up quick in -500sq.ft.
  • Kids don’t need much to be happy (link- a simple toy room)
  • There is a lot of wonderful people everywhere
  • The will of God is the happiest and safest place to be
  • When God calls you, He will make the way
  • RVs break, it’s part of it, fix them and roll on!
  • Travel can be expensive, budget & take advantage of money saving apps.
  • RV maintenance is a necessity to prevent many problems!
  • RV life takes love, patience, and understanding with each other
  • Take advantage of the outdoors (RVs are only so big)
  • Purchase a good RV & Truck, you won’t regret it
  • You can learn a lot about your RV problems online
  • Find a dependable RV handy man that you can call when problems arise. He may not be able to always get to you but he can give you suggestions and help with maintenance when you are home.
  • When ordering parts, price check! Amazon and RV trader are our favorites so far
  • Make travel days fun for your children, happy kids make happy travels. Check out my post here for travel boredom busters!
  • Amazon Prime can be worth the subscription with their 2day shipping and easy returns
  • Anywhere can be home if you take the time to make it a home
  • Traveling in a RV is the only way to go when you are fulltime!

What’s our plans this year?

So far, we have been to OH, KY, VA, WV, MA, PA and TN this year. Later this year, we plan to spend time in SC, KY, and OH hosting kids crusades, we are really excited about starting this part of the ministry back up. Before the kids crusades start, we plan to spend some time in AR and surrounding states. We can’t wait to see what else the Lord has in store for us this year, only time will tell. In the meantime, we will be settling into our new camper over the next several weeks, in between travels. We recently were provided with the opportunity to trade our RV in for one which is better suited for our full time living. We are very blessed and excited about our new home! Keep watching for pics and posts with it in the near future!

I hope you have enjoyed this post. Stick around for more links below on mentioned and related topics. What else would you like to know about our full time RV life? I would love to hear from you in the comments below! If you haven’t subscribed already, be sure to do so directly here below.

April ‘2021’Travels & Testimonies (strength for the heart)

This past Month we traveled from Kentucky to South Carolina.

We have now been stationed in South Carolina for about two weeks.

GENERAL UPDATE-

It’s been nice and warm here in SC.

The flowers & trees are in full bloom and frosts have been scarce.

The people here where we are parked have been so good to us. They have given us gift cards, gift baskets, homemade strawberry jam, birthday cake, and multiple dinners .

God’s blessing will surely be upon them for the kindness they have shown to us and the ministry.

“So much for my diet lol”

We have been in service with three separate churches over the past week. And 11 different congregations during the month of April.

Services have been great, and God’s spirit has drawn nigh.

There’s nothing more rewarding then to watch tears fall during altar call and to hear testimonies of hearts touched, as we have witnessed. One dear sister blessed our souls greatly as she sang and danced before the Lord after just finishing 9 months of chemotherapy. The joy of the Lord noticeably shown on her face. People like this are a great reminder of true strength & joy that only comes in the Lord.

TESTIMONY’S-

While at Brother Shirley’s, we were blessed to hear the pastor tell his testimony.

As a young married man with a new baby, the Lord began dealing with his soul.

He had been feeling convicted of his sins for sometime, and one day while preforming his job as a lineman, the Lord miraculously placed a challenged boy in his life. The boy stopped on the sidewalk and asked “Mister, are you saved?” Brother Shirley replied “No sir I am not” “May I pray for you?” “Yes, you sure can son” said Brother Shirley, removing his hard hat.

As the fellow linemen scattered, the boy with a honest heart began to pray.

Only one day later Brother Shirley found himself at an altat a newly saved man!

Now If that doesn’t stir you to be a witness for God, I don’t no what does.

God can use anyone, young, old, brilliant, or simple.

God wants to use each of His children to be a light for Him in this lost world.

Earlier this year, we witnessed the healing of a man’s arthritic knee and we watched a second man give up his much needed cane during a prayer line.

God has not forgotten His people, know matter where you are, He can meet you and your needs.

On the lighthearted side-

Funny photos

(we’ll let them speak for themselves)

“ The Innocence Of A Child” Our friend’s oldest daughter (age 5 or 6) came in from her playtime with our son Judah (age 3).

She told her mom she “needed” to come in . Upon asking why, she replied “Because Mama, I think that boy is falling in love with me” ????

Tip Of The Day-

If you are using a instant pot in your small home or RV, consider releasing the steam pressure OUTSIDE to prevent heating up your small space this summer. RVs can be very tough to keep cool at times. Cooking with an instant pot or crock pot is a great way to help keep temperatures down. Don’t defeat your purpose with that steam!

This tip can also be great way to decrease that overwhelming force of food smell for those expecting! ????

I hope you have enjoyed this post!

Me and my family continuously travel with my husbands ministry.

We live full time in our fifth wheel camper (AKA “home on wheels”) and wanted to share a few of our monthly updates & tips!

Please let me know, in the comments below, if you would like to see this new section I am currently testing, called “Travels & Testimonies”.

And don’t forget to, like ❤️share!
